Q&A: Should I be upset if stranger criticizes my child in public?

Q: Should I be upset if a stranger in public criticizes my child for their behavior? They’re just being kids!

A: No. Don’t get upset. We should be a community for each other, right? Besides, kids often listen better to strangers than their parents and you’re right there to intervene if they’re too harsh and then you and your kid get to walk away together talking about how some people are just mean and it’s a life lesson. Also, I think as parents sometimes we forget to teach respect for others because we’re just surviving our own hell.

But finally, my answer on this is a selfish one because if your kid stares at me for a full 2-3 minutes, I will possibly mouth the words, “Fuck you” to the little beast. That’s still legal.
